When I heard that Cathy and Omar were planning a “symposium” wedding at The Samberg Conference Center in Cambridge, MA, I knew it was going to be something a little different and it absolutely was. Instead of the traditional wedding reception filled with dancing, their guests were invited to give poster presentations. It was such a wonderfully unexpected way to celebrate, and perfectly suited to a couple who clearly loves bringing people together, being creative, and having a good time.
The ceremony took place at MIT Chapel and then we headed over to a spectacular setting overlooking the Boston skyline. It was hard to imagine a more beautiful backdrop for the day. Between the views, the laughter, and all of the wonderfully personal details, there was always something happening. As a photographer, these are the weddings I love most- the ones that feel completely personal to the people getting married. There was no pressure to follow a traditional wedding formula. They created a celebration that reflected who they are, filled the room with people they love, and gave everyone a chance to be part of it in their own way.
I felt very lucky to be there to document it. Thanks Cathy and Omar for allowing me to capture such a beautiful, funny, creative, and just plain fun wedding!
